You are collected from the International Convention Centre and spend travel north to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a recently declared World Heritage Site. En-route stop at the Veyane Cultural Village for unique insights into traditional Zulu culture. In St Lucia you board the Santa Lucia boat for a 2 hour trip up the narrows of the St Lucia Estuary with excellent opportunities to view crocodile, hippo and the abundant birdlife of the area. This will be followed by a game drive in the tour vehicle in the area between Cape Vidal and St Lucia before you travel back to Durban in the evening. A picnic lunch is taken on the game drive or en-route subject to tour timings.
The iSimgangaliso Wetland Park comprises a number of conservation areas, the oldest of which is the St Lucia Game Reserve, established in 1895. This region contains the highest vegetated dunes in the world, extensive and diverse wetland systems, as well as coastal grasslands with an associated fauna which includes the Africa's highest density of common reedbuck as well as many other species of game. Numerous waterfowl, grassland, forest and sea birds provide an attraction to birdwatchers from around the world.
